AICAR Peptide Research
AICAR (5-Aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleoside) is a cell-permeable nucleotide precursor that activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), a master sensor and regulator of cellular energy homeostasis. Often described as an exercise mimetic, AICAR research has demonstrated measurable improvements in glucose uptake, fatty acid oxidation, mitochondrial biogenesis, and endurance capacity in animal models — without physical activity. Studies have also explored its applications in metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, obesity-related inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction. As a research tool for probing the AMPK pathway, AICAR has been studied alongside peptide-based metabolic modulators. This section of the Cenexa Peptide Research Library covers scientific research on AICAR and its metabolic, mitochondrial, and cellular energy research applications.
