Dermorphin Peptide Research
Dermorphin is a naturally occurring heptapeptide originally isolated from the skin secretions of South American phyllomedusine frogs, notable for its extraordinarily potent opioid receptor activity — binding mu-opioid receptors with approximately 30–40 times the potency of morphine on a molar basis. Unlike endogenous opioid peptides, dermorphin contains a D-amino acid residue (D-Ala), which confers exceptional resistance to enzymatic degradation. Research has explored its applications in pain pharmacology, opioid receptor characterization, and analgesic drug development. This section covers current scientific studies on Dermorphin and its role in opioid receptor biology and pain research.
